A raft of new geotechnical services work sees our geotechnical department go from strength-to-strength.
We are providing ground investigation to support residential housing development work at Wynyard Village for Cameron Hall Developments and an undisclosed North East developer in County Durham.
The Wynyard work involves a combined environmental and geotechnical ground investigation on a 12ha plot of former woodland to obtain data on the properties of the underlying soils.
On land near Consett, combined ground investigation work comprising trial pits and boreholes for soil characterisation and the investigation of potential shallow coal workings is also being undertaken. The results of this work are being used to support the planning process and provide detailed ground related information for the client’s residential development plans.
As well as the above ground investigation works, we are also supervising the remediation of an undisclosed former colliery site in Tyne and Wear. This site is heavily contaminated with hydrocarbons and RWO is providing supervision and advice to the client and contractor, covering the removal, treatment and validation of the clean up to ensure it is safe for proposed residential development.
Head of the geotechnical department Chris Rudd said: “It’s great to secure these new contracts, which strengthens our relationship with our clients as a go-to specialist ground engineering provider. The work reflects the high-quality ground investigation and surveying expertise available in the North East to developers’ bringing forward multi-million-pound infrastructure and inward investment projects.”
