RWO are a forward thinking, dynamic, multi-discipline engineering consultancy. We provide services to the construction industry, developers, utility providers and local authorities.

We undertake a wide variety of work including ground investigations, geotechnical engineering, contaminated land, design of remedial works, drainage design, highway and external works design, structural design, structural surveys, flood risk assessments and hydraulic modelling. Projects are UK wide, with a primary focus on the North East, although there may also be opportunities overseas.

Due to sustained growth, we are looking to recruit a Geotechnical/ Geoenvironmental Consultant at Principal to Associate level. The role can be based at any of our offices in the North East, North Yorkshire, or Leeds, with regular weekly attendance expected at our Geotechnical HQ in Stokesley.

The Role:

  • Deliver geotechnical and/ or environmental projects within the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, producing high quality outputs.
  • Manage and report on geotechnical and/ or environmental ground investigations such Phase I Desk Studies, Coal Mining Risk Assessments, Phase II Interpretative Reports, Slope Stability Assessments, Remedial Strategies and Validation etc.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Engineers and Consultants, liaising with sub-contractors, clients and suppliers as required.
  • Develop client relationships, your own client base is desirable but not essential.
  • Collaborate with RWO teams to deliver comprehensive engineering solutions.

Your Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Geology, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Consultancy or related discipline. Ideally Chartered by a relevant professional body.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years’ relevant industry experience.
  • Strong understanding of relevant standards and guidance documents, including BS5930:2015+A1:2020, BS 10175:2011+A2:2017, EC7, and others.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft 365 applications, borehole logging software and ideally some knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of Earthworks, Land Remediation and MMPs.
  • Ideally some geotechnical design experience in areas such as slope stability, retaining walls etc. or the ability/ desire to develop these skills under guidance of our geotechnical design lead.
  • Excellent report writing, communication, mentoring and numerical skills required.
